Back Serie A: Miralem Pjanic set to join Juventus

AS Roma Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic has traveled to Turin for a medical ahead of his imminent move to Serie A champions Juventus. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has been linked with a move away from Roma for quite some time, but now Juventus have decided to make the decisive move as they agreed to pay 38 million euro for him, matching the release clause in the player's contract. Roma club director Mauro Baldissoni had revealed that the midfielder had made an official transfer request.

Juventus are also keen on keeping French midfielder Paul Pogba, despite interest from Europe's biggest clubs. They have also been linked with Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia but no official offers were made until now. The Bianconeri have already secured the signature of Barcelona right back Dani Alves, the player has announced his move away from Catalonia. The Italian club have not yet confirmed the deal though.

Miralem Pjanic scored 10 league goals for Roma last season but his side finished third in the Serie A behind Juventus and Napoli. The 26-year-old midfielder has played in France for Metz and Lyon before joining AS Roma in 2011. He has made 159 league appearances for Roma, scoring 27 goals. He has 68 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and he represented his nation at the 2014 World Cup. He is regarded as one of the best free-kick takers in the world.

Juventus are 8/13 at PaddyPower to win the Serie A title again next season.
