Back Euro 2016: Vicente del Bosque confident despite shocking friendly defeat

Spain suffered a very surprising 1-0 defeat against Georgia on Tuesday, in their final warm-up friendly before Euro 2016. Despite the result head coach Vicente del Bosque remains confident of a successful campaign at the final tournament. Spain are the only team to have won the European Championship twice in a row, in 2008 and 2012. They have been disappointing at the 2014 World Cup though, crashing out of the group stage after defeats to the Netherlands and Chile.

Spain will kick off their Euro 2016 campaign on Monday, when they face the Czech Republic in Group D. "We shouldn't set any limits," he said after the defeat against Georgia. "We can't say if we get to the semi-finals we will be happy, we need to aspire to win it. This is sport and we don't know how far we'll go, but we need to maintain the dream to fight for a third consecutive Euro title." The Spain head coach believes there are more than eight teams capable of winning the Euro 2016 crown.

"There are very good teams," he added. "The number of sides that can aspire to the title has grown. "We can't speak of just six or eight teams, but even more teams that have a chance for sure. Naturally in France when you look at the strikers they have, the number of midfielders, they are one of the favourites. They have players in midfield with extraordinary potential and a sensible coach. He is doing a great job."

Spain are 5/1 at Bet365 to win their third consecutive European Championship.
