Back Premier League: Manchester City to sign Ilkay Gundogan

Germany international Ilkay Gundogan is likely to become the first signing for Manchester City under new manager Pep Guardiola. Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal for the midfielder, according to Goal.com. The transfer fee is believed to be in the region of 26 million euro, with additional performance bonuses. The player's agent has met Manchester City director Txiki Begiristain earlier this year, but Juventus and Barcelona have also been interested in his signature.

Gundogan will not play for Germany at Euro 2016 due to a dislocated knee cap, an injury that will keep him out of the pitch for most of the summer. Manchester City are also believed to be targeting Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. New manager Pep Guardiola will take charge on July 1st but he will most likely be involved in the club's dealings even before that date.

Guardiola said farewell to Bayern Munich with a domestic double after the Bavarians defeated Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final on Sunday. Ilkay Gundogan has made 105 league appearances for Borussia Dortmund since joining them in 2011 and scored 10 goals. He has 16 caps and 4 goals for the German national team.

Manchester City are 6/4 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
