Everton have decided to sack manager Roberto Martinez after three years in charge and just a few days before the last match of the season. The Toffees are currently 12th in the Premier League after losing 3-1 against Leicester last weekend and 3-0 at relegation-threatened Sunderland on Wednesday. They have played the semi-finals of the FA Cup this season and also reached the last four in the League Cup but failed to reach the final in both competitions. However, the club praised the Spanish manager for his "integrity and dignity" and appreciated his "key role" in developing the club's young players.
Numerous supporters have voiced their discontent lately, the first major manifestation of that feeling was during the 2-1 win over Bournemouth when a banner saying "Time to go Roberto" was flown over Goodison Park. The 4-0 loss to rivals Liverpool was quite disappointing as well for the fans, especially since four days later they were beaten by Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals. Roberto Martinez replaced David Moyes at Everton in 2013 and promised to take the club to the Champions League.
The first season in charge was good, Everton finished with 72 points, which was the best tally since they won the league title in 1987. But the following season saw them finish 11th and now they slipped to 12th, despite important investments in new players and big efforts from the club to hold on to the best players in the team. Last summer John Stones remained at Everton despite a £30m offer from Chelsea, while in January the club bought Oumar Niasse from Lokomotiv Moscow for 13.5 million pounds but the striker played in just two matches as a starter.
You can bet on who will be the next Everton manager at SkyBet, here are the odds for the top five candidates:
Frank De Boer - 2/5 Mark Hughes - 5/1 David Moyes - 7/1 Manuel Pellegrini - 8/1 Ronald Koeman - 10/1

There was huge expectations for Martinez after his appointment and the fabulous football that Everton had played in his first and a half season maybe but after that gradually but sorely team started play worst and worst. Once Evertron fans joked with MU fans about Moyes but what now? I think David Moyes will be remembered...

Once Evertron fans joked with MU fans about Moyes but what now? I think David Moyes will be remembered in the Everton history as the more successful (better) manager than Martinez.

Lukaku, Stones and buddies might have to leave because they have quality more then to not play in any european leagues, at least europa league. I really wonder to see who will be new coach of Everton.

After great season 2013-14 when they finished 5th on the table , now two disappointment seasons for Everton and Martinez in which they finished 11th so its natural to sack coach cuz they have great players and should have at least Europa league spot ambitions. Hope Manuel Pellegrini will become new coach, and should sell...

Hope Manuel Pellegrini will become new coach, and should sell few players and with good transfer window they should be great with him next year.
