Back Premier League: Arsene Wenger expected bigger protests last weekend

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke after last weekend's 1-0 victory over Norwich and said that he expected the announced protests from the fans to be more intense. The French manager has been in charge at Arsenal for almost 20 years now, has won three Premier League titles with the club but the last of them was all the way back in 2004. Some fans held up banners reading "time for change" during Saturday's match against Norwich at the Emirates Stadium.

"I thought the whole stadium would be white with posters," Wenger said. "One target is to keep 100% of people happy. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do that this season." However, Saturday's win makes another top four finish almost secure as the Gunners leapfrogged Manchester City into third place. The Gunners will face the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday and they need just two more points to clinch an 18th consecutive participation in the Champions League.

Most of the Arsenal fans backed their team during Saturday's match against Norwich, the overall impression was that only a minority of supporters were keen on protesting against Wenger. "I am a football man. I am not a politician," the French manager added. "I am not in a democracy. I am in the next game, perform, try to do as well as you can and accept people's opinions. I think I can take that. I am in a public job and I have to live with judgement as long as it is respectful."

Arsene Wenger is under contract with the Gunners until the end of next season. You can bet on who will be the next manager at the Emirates Stadium, whenever that might be, here are the odds at SkyBet:

Ronald Koeman - 8/1 Roberto Mancini - 8/1 Joachim Low - 10/1 Dennis Bergkamp - 10/1 Unai Emery - 12/1
