Back Bundesliga: Mats Hummels considering Dortmund future

Borussia Dortmund leading central defender Mats Hummels revealed he is thinking about his future, either at Borussia Dortmund or at another club. There has been speculation regarding interest for Hummels from almost every big club in Europe, including Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United, but there haven't been any official transfer bids yet.

"It's a very difficult decision, and when I finally make it people will understand how hard it is for me," Hummels said. "I've set a date, but I'm keeping it to myself. It's been taking me at least half an hour extra to fall asleep for several weeks now because this is such a big issue for me."

Hummels has played for Dortmund for more than seven years as he joined them from current Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. First he spent a season on loan at Dortmund and then he signed a permanent deal under head coach Jurgen Klopp in 2009. Hermann Hummels, the player's father and agent, says his son could even return to Bayern Munich this summer. "Mats is facing a tremendously important decision in his career, in his life," Hummels senior said. "Dortmund is back among the top clubs in Europe, so the decision is so hard for him. If he should leave Dortmund, then he goes to one of the five or six top clubs. And to these clubs one is of course FC Bayern."

Hummels still has one year left on his contract with Borussia Dormund, but if he fails to reach an agreement for an extension the club will surely try to sell him to the highest bidder this summer.
