Back Premier League: Louis van Gaal dismisses Jose Mourinho rumours

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has not been exactly pleased by speculation linking Jose Mourinho to his job at Old Trafford. The BBC reported that the former Chelsea boss could be preparing to take the Manchester United job at the end of the current season.

Louis van Gaal replied by accusing the media of "inventing" the story. He also stated that there was no need for the club to issue an official statement to deny the rumours. However, we do know for a fact that Van Gaal's contract won't expire until the end of the 2016-2017 season.

United clinched a 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Sunday, and Van Gaal was questioned about his future after the match. He responded angrily, saying that the media should praise his team instead. "For the third game in succession, our football was sparkling. So I hope to get the support of the media this week. But you write what you like," Van Gaal said.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League table, six points away from the top four. They are 7/4 at Bet365 to clinch a top-four finish this season.
