Back Champions League: Chelsea drop Radamel Falcao from registered squad

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao has not been included in Chelsea's 25-man squad for the knock-out stages of the Champions League. The South-American international has not played since October due to a thigh injury. His replacement in the Champions League squad is new signing Alexandre Pato, who has joined Chelsea on loan until the end of the season. Falcao has made just one Premier League start this season after having joined the Blues on loan from Monaco.

Pato, who has joined Chelsea from Corinthians, will have some work to do before being ready to play, he has not featured since November due to a string of injuries. Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has also included Matt Miazga in the Champions League squad, the 20-year-old American defender was also included in the Premier League squad for the remainder of the season. Miazga joined Chelsea from New York Red Bulls on a four-and-a-half-year contract. Falcao was included in the Premier League squad though.

Manchester City also made a change in their Champions League squad, with 19-year-old forward Kelechi Iheanacho replacing injured Samir Nasri. The Frenchman will be out for at least another couple of months after undergoing tendon surgery. Arsenal have not yet announced their changes to the 25-man Champions League squad, but they most likely included new signing Mohamed Elneny in replacement of Mathieu Debuchy, who joined Bordeaux on loan until the end of the season.

Chelsea are 20/1 at SkyBet to win the Champions League this season, Manchester City are 10/1 to win it while Arsenal are 33/1 to claim the coveted trophy.
