Back Premier League: Manchester United vs Stoke City preview

Manchester United will be looking to keep their momentum going when they welcome Stoke City at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. Louis van Gaal's men defeated Hull City 3-0 last weekend and it was their third consecutive win. The Red Devils are now back into the top four so their season could be back on track by January.

On the other hand Stoke are coming in this match on the back of two consecutive defeats, the first time they have suffered such a setback this season. Manager Mark Hughes will have to do without midfielders Steve Sidwell and Glenn Whelan, both injured. Louis van Gaal has some injury problems of his own, with Angel di Maria fresh on the unavailable list alongside Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Rafael, Daley Blind and Jonny Evans.

Stoke could also be without right-back Phil Bardsley, who will face a late fitness test. Manchester United have won 10 out of their last 12 games against Stoke City, but they were beaten 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium last season.

Probable line-ups:

Man United: De Gea - Valencia, Smalling, Rojo, Young - Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini - Mata - Rooney, Van Persie

Stoke: Begovic - Bardsley, Shawcross, Wilson, Pieters - Cameron, N'Zonzi - Walters, Bojan, Diouf - Crouch

My prediction: Manchester United to win 3-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Manchester United win - 4/9 Draw - 15/4 Stoke City win - 15/2
