Back Premier League: Manchester City confirm Pep Guardiola as next manager

Manchester City have issued an official statement, confirming what has been rumoured for a a few months now: Pep Guardiola will be their manager after the end of the current season. The Spaniard has already agreed a three-year contract with the club. The 45-year-old coach is currently managing Bayern Munich but had already announced that he would not be seeking a contract extension with the German champions.

Manuel Pellegrini, aged 62, will continue to manage Manchester City until June 30. The club revealed that they had issued the official statement in order to ease the pressure on their current boss and also said that they had tried to appoint Guardiola back in 2012. At that time Italian Roberto Mancini was the manager of the club and the Citizens won the Premier League title that year.

Pellegrini took the job in 2013 and also managed to win the Premier League title, along with the League Cup. This season Manchester City are still in with a chance to win all four trophies: they are in the League Cup final, second-placed in the Premier League, and still involved in both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Manchester City are 11/8 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
