Back Premier League: Chelsea should not sack Mourinho, says Ferguson

Former Manchester United legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich should keep Jose Mourinho in charge, despite the terrible results this season. The Blues are 14th in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone, after suffering eight losses in 15 matches this campaign. Media reports claim the Portuguese boss would be sacked if Chelsea don't win their following two league matches. Roman Abramovich has hired nine managers during his time as owner of Chelsea Football Club.

"There is no point in sacking one of the best coaches of all time," said Ferguson. "Abramovich has sacked so many coaches in the last 10 years. I am sure he has learned by it. He has to trust and have confidence that Jose can turn it round. In every country he has managed in he has won the big trophies. It would be foolish to sack him. It would be bad management." Jose Mourinho has won some silverware at Stamford Bridge, a league title and a Capital One Cup in his second spell, added to two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups during his first tenure (between 2004 and 2007). Between the two spells at Chelsea the Portuguese has won leagues with both Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

"Now is the first time he has been confronted with non-success during his whole career," said Ferguson. "For the first time in his life he has had to deal with bad publicity and adversity and that is a challenge. But there are signs they are getting back to a balance, although they lost on Saturday. All good leaders will eventually find a solution. I know the guy and I know the work he has done in football and I can't see it lasting long."

There's an interesting bet you can place regarding Jose Mourinho's future, he is 10/1 at PaddyPower to become the next Manchester United Manager!
