Former Manchester United legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich should keep Jose Mourinho in charge, despite the terrible results this season. The Blues are 14th in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone, after suffering eight losses in 15 matches this campaign. Media reports claim the Portuguese boss would be sacked if Chelsea don't win their following two league matches. Roman Abramovich has hired nine managers during his time as owner of Chelsea Football Club.
"There is no point in sacking one of the best coaches of all time," said Ferguson. "Abramovich has sacked so many coaches in the last 10 years. I am sure he has learned by it. He has to trust and have confidence that Jose can turn it round. In every country he has managed in he has won the big trophies. It would be foolish to sack him. It would be bad management." Jose Mourinho has won some silverware at Stamford Bridge, a league title and a Capital One Cup in his second spell, added to two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups during his first tenure (between 2004 and 2007). Between the two spells at Chelsea the Portuguese has won leagues with both Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
"Now is the first time he has been confronted with non-success during his whole career," said Ferguson. "For the first time in his life he has had to deal with bad publicity and adversity and that is a challenge. But there are signs they are getting back to a balance, although they lost on Saturday. All good leaders will eventually find a solution. I know the guy and I know the work he has done in football and I can't see it lasting long."
There's an interesting bet you can place regarding Jose Mourinho's future, he is 10/1 at PaddyPower to become the next Manchester United Manager!

I really respect Sir Alex Ferguson but I think he was being drunk during this interview. Jo5é Mourinho is insane in my opinion. Yes, he has some nice results as manager but neither Real Madrid nor Chelsea were able to win the most important club trophy (I mean the Champions League) under the management of the Portuguese....

In my opinion the Special Five will be getting worse so Roman Abramovich should sack him. Chelsea need a better coach and not only for some seasons. Diego Simeone is the best choice who is very successful with Atletico Madrid and wants to win the Champions League.

I will have to disagree with you advoghado. I'm Chelseas fan for more then 15 years now and if people ever loved some manager in their history thats now. Jose Mourinho has full support from Blues fans, eventho things are not going as planed this season. Still he is our manager with most titles, and we belive that this season...

Jose Mourinho has full support from Blues fans, eventho things are not going as planed this season. Still he is our manager with most titles, and we belive that this season we will reach top 4 (since no team is superior this season) and next season we will go for title again. Sir Alex knows what he is saying, whole team doesn't belive in themselfs not in manager.

I'm not very favorable change of coach with the championship being disputed, but in my opinion in the case of Chelsea, the situation is reaching a level that is no longer supported, the fans will not accept seeing Chelsea occupying the last positions in the ranking table, and Abramovich will be required to make a decision...

I've had never liked Van Gaal but if that is the alternative I will start appreciate him a lot more. Sir Alex Ferguson knows exactly what his talking about after he had been in the same situation more than once as a MU manager. Sometimes patience is everything but I don't know if Abramovich could be so patient toward Mourinho, Sir Alex believes that the Russian learned from so many coaching changes in the last years but I'm not so sure. Probably Mourinho will be sacked soon or if not he will get credit not only for this but probably for next season too.
