MTG Acquires e-Sports Operator
Modern Times Group (MTG) has confirmed its acquisition of Scandinavian e-Sports operator DreamHack for a SEK 244 million (Euro 26.1 million) consideration. This year MTG's previously acquired shares of e-Sports company Turtle Entertainment, ESL brand owner. “This complements our recent investment in ESL, and reinforces our commitment to video gaming as one of the most watched and fastest growing online video categories,” said Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, president and chief executive of MTG. Marcus Lindmark, chief executive for DreamHack said, “DreamHack is already Sweden's largest digital festival; MTG's investment will not only enable us to consolidate our position, but also accelerate the international expansion of our festivals across the globe.”
