Back Euro 2016 Qualifying Play-Off: Denmark vs Sweden preview

Denmark will be trying to overturn a 2-1 deficit with the help of their home fans when they take on Sweden in the second leg of their Euro 2016 playoff on Tuesday. The two neighboring nations will clash at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen with a ticket for Euro 2016 at stake. The two teams have met 103 times before, with Sweden taking 45 wins and Denmark tasting success on 40 occasions. Sweden have beaten Denmark three times in European Championship qualifiers.

Denmark, surprise winners of the European Championships in 1992, have no other choice than to win on Tuesday, otherwise they will watch Euro 2016 on TV. Emil Forsberg and Zlatan Ibrahimovic put Sweden 2-0 ahead on Friday in the first leg but Nicolai Jorgensen scored a crucial late goal for Denmark. Denmark finished behind Portugal and Albania in Group I, after having won just two of their five home games. They have beaten Sweden twice during the World Cup 2010 qualifiers. Pione Sisto will be unavailable through injury, along with Leon Andreasen.

Sweden were justly disappointed by the late goal they conceded in the first leg after having dominated most of the game. 2-0 lead that they had built up. They could even have increased the 2-0 lead that they held at some point but goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel pulled off a string of good saves to deny them. The Swedes are coming from three consecutive victories, while Denmark have lost all their last three fixtures. Mikael Antonsson picked up an injury in the first leg and will be unavailable, but Kim Kallstrom and Oscar Lewicki should be fit.

Probable line-ups:

Denmark: Schmeichel - Durmisi, Agger, Kjaer, Jacobsen - Kvist - Fischer, Eriksen, Jorgensen, Braithwaite - Bendtner

Sweden: Isaksson - Olsson, Milosevic, Granqvist, Lustig - Forsberg, Kallstrom, Lewicki, Durmaz - Berg, Ibrahimovic

My prediction: Sweden to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Denmark win - 2.15 Draw - 3.50 Sweden win - 3.60
