Back UEFA Europa League: AS Monaco vs Tottenham preview

One of the most interesting matches of this Thursday's Europa League batch of fixtures is the clash between AS Monaco and Tottenham at Stade Louis II. The visitors have started their European campaign with a win and are full of confidence after last weekend's comprehensive victory over Manchester City. The only previous meeting between the two sides was a friendly match in 2013, which Monaco won 5-2.

Monaco have been struggling in Ligue 1 so far, with just three victories out of eight matches this season. Last weekend they recorded a 3-3 draw at Guingamp, throwing away a lead that they had held for three times during the match. Anthony Martial, Aymen Abdennour, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco all left the club this summer and it seems that their replacements are not exactly up to par, at least until now. Their Europa League campaign started with a 1-1 away draw at Anderlecht.

Spurs demolished Premier League title favourites Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane last weekend to record their third consecutive league victory. Their Europa League campaign started with a 3-1 win over Qarabag FK, with new signing Heung-Min Son scoring twice. Ryan Mason could make his return after a knee injury while Moussa Dembele could also be on the pitch again after recovering from an ankle problem.

Probable line-ups:

AS Monaco: Subasic - Carvalho, Wallace, Raggi, Toure, Fabinho - Bakayoko, Silva - Lemar, Dirar, El Shaarawy

Tottenham: Lloris - Trippier, Wimmer, Vertonghen, Rose - Mason, Dier; Townsend, Eriksen, Chadli - Son

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Monaco win - 2.20 Draw - 3.40 Tottenham win - 3.60
