David De Gea's move from Manchester United to Real Madrid seemed all set on Monday but the deal has collapsed because the necessary paperwork was not submitted in time. The deal was worth 29 million pounds plus a move for Real Madrid backup goalkeeper Keylor Navas to Old Trafford. The two clubs have declined to comment on what happened.
Reports in the Spanish media claim United were responsible for the deal falling through as they did not send the necessary paperwork to the Spanish Football Federation until a minute after the deadline. On the other hand Manchester United claim that they can prove they sent the documents in time.
Real Madrid could lodge an appeal with FIFA, the world governing body in football, but if they don't or if the appeal is rejected De Gea will have no choice but to remain at Old Trafford. Sergio Romero has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Louis Van Gaal since the start of the season while De Gea was not even on the bench.
Manchester United are 17.00 at Bet365 to win the Champions League this season.

I am not surprised how things ended here because they had all summer to make this transfer and agree terms and they wait until the end. it is clear that one of the sides in this transfer wanted to avoid this transfer and that is only reason why this transfer falls trough and to be honest I think that was Manchester United....

That is bad situation for every side in this transfer. Manchester is stuck with player who don't want to play for them, De Gea is not where he want to be and Real Madrid don't have good goalkeeper. They sold Casillas and didn't bought any goalkeeper so Navas must play. I don't think that he is bad goalkeeper just he is...

Manchester united didn't want to sell this player and I think that is only reason why this transfer didn't success but I am sure that Real Madrid will survive without De Gea because he has great Navas to keep his goal and I don't see why they are in such a hurry to get another goalkeeper.

I don't know what to say. Both clubs have all summer long to finish this transfer and they waited for last few hours. That is something that no one can explain. Real Madrid want to buy David De Gea and they are waiting till last minute. They paid Kovacic 35 millions and he is player for the bench. They just need to pay...

They just need to pay about 40 millions for De Gea and to finish this transfer saga earlier.

This was longest fairytale of the transfer window.I suppose that Manchester United wanted to get revenge to Real Madrid for not buying Sergio Ramos, who was biggest wish of Louis Van Gaal in this transfer window.I think that De Gea eventually will join Real Madrid,in next 2 transfer windows.

I think this a failure not only for the two clubs but for a player himself. Real will loose a great keeper at least for a year (and maybe even after that, who knows) United loose somewhere between 30 and 40 mill. Euro for not making the transfer. De Gea will loose his dignity and has to bag Van Gaal for mercy if he wants...
