Back Premier League: John Stones makes official transfer request

Everton defender John Stones has handed in a formal transfer request following Chelsea's unsuccessful attempts to buy him this summer. The Blues have made three bids, first 20 million pounds, then 26 million pounds and eventually 30 million pounds, all rejected by Everton.

Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has claimed on a few occasions that Stones will not be sold this summer. The club have not yet reacted to the transfer request. Stones was brought in at Everton in February 2013 from Barnsley for 3 million pounds.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is keen on adding some strength to his central defence after substituting John Terry during their 3-0 loss at Manchester City. Stones will most likely be included in the England squad for next month's matches against San Marino and Switzerland, both official Euro 2016 qualifiers. Ironically, the first match for Chelsea after the international break will be against Everton at Goodison Park on September 12.

The bookmakers seem convinced that Stones will join Chelsea before the transfer window closes, here are the odds at SkyBet on his club after September 1st:

Chelsea - 1.17 Everton - 4.5 Man United - 21.00
