Back Premier League: Barcelona's Pedro set to join Chelsea

Chelsea have made a surprise move on the transfer market as they agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign winger Pedro for a fee of 21 million pounds. The Spain international winger has been linked with a move to Manchester United but apparently the two clubs have failed to reach an agreement over the transfer fee.

The 28-year-old winger is already in London for a medical, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. Barcelona wanted to keep Pedro and even offered him a new contract, but the player wanted guarantees over regular first-team football. With the likes of Neymar, Messi and Suarez in the squad the club were unable to offer such guarantees, so Pedro pushed for the move.

However, Pedro has featured in Barcelona's last three matches: the UEFA Super Cup and the two legs of the Spanish Super Cup, which they lost to Athletic Bilbao. He has joined Barcelona at the age of 17 and went on to make 204 appearances for the senior team, scoring 58. He was also part of the Spain outfit that won the 2012 European Championshiop and the 2010 World Cup.

Chelsea are 4.33 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title again this season.
