Sports Betting is a No Go in Brazil
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has put the issue of legalized sports betting in Brazil to bed for now having vetoed 36 clauses before and signing a Senate approved bill. The bill covers the creation of two lotteries, which includes Brazil's first legal fixed-odds sports betting products. President Rousseff vetoed all provisions related to fixed odds noting that developing betting products would require more elaborate regulation to ensure legal and economic security and manage fraud control and tax evasion. The President also noted the bills' lack of provisions “to prevent possible social impact.”
