Back Illegal Sports Betting Operator Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison

Online sportsbook Beteagle owner, 78-year-old Joseph Graziano of Springfield, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for his involvement in an illegal sports betting conspiracy as announced by United States Attorney Paul J Fishman.

Judge Claire C Cecchi sentenced Graziano, who pled guilty to the charge.

Court documentation and court statements revealed that Graziano was the principal owner of Beteagle.com, a Costa Rican website accepting illegal online sports wagers with ties to an American organized crime family.

In addition to prison time, Judge Cecchi ordered Graziano to serve three years of supervised release and imposed a $16,000 fine. Graziano also forfeited $1 million to the United States.

In relation to this case, Dominick J Barone pled guilty to being involved in the illegal operation and also received 18 months in prison on June 16, 2015.

The third man involved, 83-year-old "capo" Joseph Lascala, has yet to be charged.

An investigation involving the FBI; the Bayonne Police Department, Special Investigations Unit; IRS-Criminal Investigation; the NJ. State Police, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office led to the prosecutions.
