Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba joined Major League Soccer outfit Montreal Impact. The Ivorian forward, now aged 37, has parted company with Chelsea this summer after playing 381 for the Blues. He has won four Premier League titles during his two spells at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba is all-time top scorer for his national side, with 65 goals in 105 international appearances. Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo said that signing Drogba makes for "one of the biggest days in club history. It's an honour to welcome Didier Drogba to the Impact. From the first conversation I had with him, I felt that he really wanted to play in Montreal. His arrival will be beneficial in every aspect."
According to MLS rules Drogba will be a "designated player" at the club, which means his wages will not be restricted by the league salary cap. Montreal Impact are MLS members since 2012 and finished bottom of the table last season. At the moment they are sixth in the Western Conference rankings, with 7 wins and 3 draws out of 18 games this season.
Montreal Impact travel to face Frank Lampard's New York City FC this Saturday and the visitors are 4.00 at Bet365 to win the game.

What are MLS clubs doing last couple of years, especially this summer, is just fantastic. If you see how much world class players are playing currently there you'll definitely want to watch that league, just like best European Leagues. Maybe big part of them are close to retirement, but anyway, MLS are doing great job.

So many football stars these days goes to Major League Soccer in the end of their careers, so I guess it's pretty logical that Didier Drogba will do the same. After he was released from Chelsea maybe he didn't have a chance to continue his career at highest level so I guess this move will be good for him and probably Montreal...

what a player! one and only! he surely made marks on Chelsea's history, I do not expect a lot from his new deal, but I agree with h34dhunt3r, it will be nice to watch him again, and another good reason to follow MLS. I know that Montreal Impact will rise from the bottom this season.

Now I will be once again able to watch him on TV, since MLS is streamed on it, not like Asian or Australian leagues. With this addition, MLS gets another superstar witch should help this magnificent game to overcome some other sports in North America.
