Cycling: Joaquim Rodriguez takes Tour de France stage 3, Chris Froome captures yellow jersey
Chris Froome took the overall lead in the Tour de France after finishing second on stage three from Anvers to Mur de Huy on Monday. The British rider finished just behind Joaquim Rodriguez at the end of the stage, atop the legendary climb of Mur de Huy. The stage was incredibly tense, with a mass crash in the peloton taking down the yellow jersey of Fabian Cancellara, who arrived at the finish nearly 12 minutes after the winner. He was taking to the hospital at the end of the stage and he might retire from the race. Several riders were forced to abandon the race after the crash: France's William Bonnet, Australia's Simon Gerrans, Tom Dumoulin from the Netherlands and Dmitry Kozontchuk of Russia. The race was neutralised for a few minutes as all the ambulances and doctors were busy with the wounded. Chris Froome managed to put some time into his direct rivals, finishing 11 seconds clear of defending champion Vincenzo Nibali and Nairo Quintana and 18 seconds ahead of Alberto Contador. "It's an amazing feeling to be in the yellow jersey," said Froome after the race. "I wouldn't say its too early to take the yellow jersey. I'd definitely rather be in this position than having to make time up on my rivals." Having the yellow jersey does give team Sky an advantage ahead of Tuesday's cobbled stage as the support car of the overall leader gets to be first in line, thus making it easier to assist their riders in case of mechanical problems. The outright Tour de France odds at Bet365 have changed slightly after the first three stages, here are the current ones: Chris Froome - 2.00 Nairo Quintana - 3.75 Alberto Contador - 7.00 Vincenzo Nibali - 7.00 Tejay van Garderen - 21.00
