Back Copa America: Brazil vs Paraguay preview

The last of the four Copa America quarter-finals will take place on Saturday evening when five-time World Cup winners Brazil take on Paraguay at the Estadio Municipal de Concepcion. Four years ago it was Paraguay who knocked out Brazil at the same stage of the competition. The overall record is strongly in favour of Brazil, they have beaten Paraguay 47 times and were defeated on just 12 occasions.

Brazil won Group C with six points out of nine, but their performances have been far from convincing. They barely held out for a narrow 2-1 win over Venezuela in the last group match and were beaten by Colombia. Moreover, they will be without Neymar for the rest of the tournament as the Barcelona star was banned for four matches after being sent off against Colombia.

Paraguay went through the group stage unbeaten, only Chile and Argentina managed a similar achievement. They held Argentina to a 2-2 draw in the opening match, then squeezed past Jamaica 1-0 and played out a 1-1 draw against rivals Uruguay in the last match. Veteran striker Roque Santa Cruz will probably be on the bench again as Valdez and Barrios have been performing well in attack so far.

Probable line-ups:

Brazil: Jefferson - Alves, Miranda, Thiago Silva, Luis - Elias, Fernandinho - Willian, Coutinho, Robinho - Firmino

Paraguay: Villar - Caceres, Da Silva, B Valdez, Piris - Bobadilla, Ortigoza, Benitez, Molinas - Valdez, Barrios

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Brazil win - 1.70 Draw - 3.60 Paraguay win - 6.25
