Boylesports Bidding for Ladbrokes Retail Business
Boylesports intends to proceed with a Euro 25 million-plus takeover bid for Ladbrokes' Irish retail business including 196 shops according to Irish news publication, The Independent, over the weekend. Boylesports was unsuccessful in a High Court case to gain access to sensitive information on Ladbrokes' loss-making Irish retail business, which was placed under the protection of the High Court previously in the year. The company sought info from examiner Ken Fennell of Deloitte on Ladbrokes Ireland's individual store profits, the number of betting slips generated by each shop and a list of current leases prior to bidding. The Independent reported that Boylesports founder and chief executive John Boyle said that the company was still interested in making a bid for the retail business even after losing the legal challenge.
