Back Serie A: AC Milan appoint Sinisa Mihajlovic as new head coach

AC Milan have appointed former Serbia manager Sinisa Mihajlovic as their new head coach after sacking Filippo Inzaghi. Mihajlovic, aged 46, put pen to paper on a two-year contract with AC Milan after leaving Sampdoria at the end of the season. Inzaghi was in charge of AC Milan for just one season after replacing Clarence Seedorf last summer.

Milan finished 10th place in the Serie A last season, no less than 35 points behind champions Juventus. They recorded just 13 league wins out of 38 matches in 2014-15. Sinisa Mihajlovic has played for various Serie A clubs during his career, including Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter Milan. He retired at Inter and began his managerial career as assistant to head coach Roberto Mancini.

Then he managed Bologna, Catania and Fiorentina before taking the Serbia head coach job in April 2012. He won seven matches and lost eight with the national side. He joined Sampdoria in November 2013 and led them to a 12th place finish. Last season Sampdoria finished seventh. AC Milan are looking to return to their glory days, the club has won 18 Serie A titles and no less than seven European Cups.

AC Milan are 11.00 at Bet365 to win the Serie A title next season.
