Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has put an end to all the rumours regarding his future by extending his contract with the club until 2017. The 45-year-old coach led the Blaugrana to a historic treble this season by winning the Champions League, Primera Liga and Copa del Rey during his first campaign in charge.
After the Champions League final he refused to say whether he will remain at the club or not but Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed the new contract on Tuesday. Enrique replaced Gerardo Martino last summer and this season's achievements are on par with Pep Guardiola's glorious campaign six years ago.
In a speech in which he confirmed Enrique's future at the club, Bartomeu also announced that the club intended to make big signings, despite still being under a transfer ban until January 2016. "We have set aside resources to bring in the world's best players - those who everyone wants to sign," he said. So far Barcelona have signed full back Aleix Vidal from Sevilla and they have also secured a new contract for Dani Alves.
Barcelona are 4.50 at Bet365 to win the Champions League again next season.

The winning team will not change. Luis Enrique did a great job, although at the beginning of the season so it did not look. I still think that Luis is not a world-class coach, but has the strongest team in the world. Messi is most deserving of the title, he is the best player on the world.

It was very interesting couple of months, Barcelona played wonderful but his position was always under fire. Even after Champions league fire, we had some doubts, but he get his new contract here. He is good and young manager, and I believe that he is capable to lead Barcelona.

This is very good news for all Barcelona fans. Luis Enrique is great coach and he did amazing job this year. Barcelona won all three trophies this season and played fantastic football. Messi is again at top level, Suarez played one of the best season and Neymar showed all his potential. All that is because of Luis Enrique...

Correct, "in which team is winning does not move," Barcelona have a great team, this is undeniable, and it seems that coach Luis Enrique came to the team and controlled the situation, did not let the players egos impairing good team performance, and achieved significant achievements, is deserved to continue with his job...

This is the right move for both sides. At least for the trophy he brings to the club this season he deserved to be ahead of the team for at least one more year. There was huge doubts in Luis Enrique's future trough the middle of the season but now when he have treble in his CV nobody could tell that he is a poor manager....

As first I want to say that I don't want to "minimize" Luis Enrique's knowledge as a coach, but I literally think that with these players that Barcelona have almost any coach can be successful. @Alexa - this is not "logical move", not like they were thinking about replacing him. This is actually Luis Enrique getting better (paycheck vise) and extended contract. He has done amazing job this season, ofc, and with that I mean even more dominate year then when Guardiola was in charge of team from Catalonia. Enrique...

This is only logic thing that bosses of Barca could do.Luis Enrique won triple crown in his first season at Camp Nou,so it was abnormal even to discuss about letting him to leave the club.He is legend of the club, and after this success he will be loved even more,I think.
