Back Tennis: Djokovic, Murray and Nadal drawn in the same half at Roland Garros

Andy Murray will play a qualifier in his opening match at the French Open but he won't be happy to see that he is in the same half of the draw as former champion Rafael Nadal and world number one Novak Djokovic. This means that only one of the three can make it to the final. Novak Djokovic will play veteran Jarkko Nieminen of Finland in the opening round. Roger Federer is the top-seeded player in the other half of the draw and will face a qualifier in the first round.

Former champion Rafael Nadal dropped to sixth in the seedings and can meet Djokovic as early as the quarter-finals. The Spaniard has beaten Djokovic in the last three editions of the French Open, twice in the final, but now the Serb is on an impressive 22-match winning streak. They only time that they have met in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros was nine years ago.

"It's strange because it didn't happen for a long time but at the end of the day, I have four matches before the quarter-finals to arrive at that match," said Nadal, who will face Frenchman Quentin Halys in the first round. "I need to be ready for that first round. I am ready to fight again and we will see," Nadal added. Andy Murray has won all his 10 matches on clay this year and beat Nadal in the Madrid final. Murray can face either Djokovic or Nadal in the semi-finals. Murray arrives in Paris with a 10-0 record on clay this year, having won his first title on the surface in Munich and then beating Nadal to win in Madrid.

Here are the outright odds for the tournament at Bet365:

Novak Djokovic - 1.80 Rafael Nadal - 4.33 Andy Murray - 8.00 Roger Federer - 12.00 Kei Nishikori - 13.00
