Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic extended his domination with a straightforward 6-4 6-3 win over Roger Federer to win the Italian Open final. Djokovic broke in the tenth game of the first set to take the lead and then broke again early in the second set before holding for the win.
This was the 22nd consecutive win for Djokovic, who will go into the French Open as the undeniable favourite. The Roland Garros tournament starts next Monday and Djokovic will have a week to relax and recover until then.
Djokovic looked unstoppable throughout the match as he won his 19th match out of 39 against Roger Federer. "So far, this is the best season of my life," Nole said after the match. "I don't know how it will go at Roland Garros, but I'm very confident. I'm playing with great joy and concentration and I hope to continue. This has been a very exciting week and today was my best match. It's always a big challenge to play Roger and obviously I'm very pleased."

Congratulations to Nole, He is a great champion and had shown that once again. It's a great win before the start of Roland Garros where he is a big favourite of the bookies but I don't agree with that because he had never won this tournament. It's a great win before the start of Roland Garros where he is a big favourite of the bookies but I don't agree with that because he had never won this tournament. Nadal always has to be a bookie first favourite for the French Open because of his success there. But I will be very happy if Djokovich lift the trophy at the end, he is the best player it the last few years and deserves that.

I've expected that Novak Djokovic will win this tournament, but I definitely didn't expected that he will beat Federer that easy. It was great match with a lot great points, but Djokovic gave Roger one good tennis lesson. When it comes to Roland Garros, I expect nothing expect Novak's win, it's his turn, this is his year....

He is absolutely amazing this year. Plays with big confidence, mentally he is very very strong and this could be season to win maybe all four Grand Slams. We will see if that's possible, but with this kind of dedication everything is possible. I can't wait to start French Open and see will he win first Roland Garros trophy....
