Back Premier League: Leicester City vs Southampton preview

Leicester City will be looking to extend their recent good form when they host Southampton at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. Leicester need the points to preserve their Premier League status but the Saints also have something to play for as they are close to securing an Europa League spot. Leicester have beaten Southampton just nine times in the previous 35 meetings between the two sides. Southampton won the reverse fixture 2-0 in October.

Leicester have pulled off a miraculous comeback over the past few weeks, moving off the bottom of the table and above the drop zone thanks to five wins out of their last six matches. They can't afford to take their foot off the gas now though as they are just one point clear of 18th placed Sunderland. Last week they defeated Newcastle 3-0, but it seems everybody is beating Newcastle these days. David Nugent will finally be available after missing the last four games but Andy King will most likely miss out.

Southampton had a great start to the season but they have only managed to get three wins out of their last eleven games. They still have a good chance of qualifying for the Europa League though, but if they want that then the three points at Leicester are a must. The Saints have not won in nearly a month and last week they were beaten 2-1 by relegation contenders Sunderland. James Ward-Prowse is suspended for the match while Morgan Schneiderlin could make his return next week.

Probable line-ups:

Leicester: Schmeichel - Wasilewski, Huth, Morgan - Albrighton, James, Cambiasso, Schlupp, Mahrez - Vardy, Ulloa

Southampton: Davis - Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Bertrand - Alderweireld, Wanyama - Davis, Mane, Long - Pelle

My prediction: 2-2 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Leicester win - 2.60 Draw - 3.40 Southampton win - 2.90
