Bartice King Convicted in Legends Online Sports Betting Case
The 2013 bust of the Legends online sports betting ring in the US has finally come to a close in an Oklahoma City federal court when a jury found 44-year-old Bartice King guilty of illegal gambling charges and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The case was heard in court over the course of two weeks where prosecutors showed evidence that the Legends operation dealt with more than a billion dollars in illegal wagers made by American punters. There were 34 individuals initially arrested in association with the ring. Philip Gurian was previously convicted and sentenced to time served, 3 years' probation, assessed a $100,000 fine and forced to forfeit $10 million. Michelle Lasso was fined $25,000 and deported to Panama after her money laundering conviction.
