World number one Novak Djokovic has decided to pull out from next week's Madrid Open in order to get some rest before the Rome Masters and French Open. Djokovic has missed out on the Madrid Open in 2014 as well.
The tournament organisers issued a statement saying: "He'll take time out before continuing with his planned calendar." Novak Djokovic has already won all three Masters events this season and has also clinched the Australian Open title.
He has never won the French Open though, the tournament starts on 24 May. This time he is the favourite given Rafael Nadal's unconvincing form, the Spaniard has won nine of the last ten editions of the tournament. Novak Djokovic is currently 1.90 at Bet365 to win the French Open, Rafael Nadal is priced at 3.00 while Stan Wawrinka and Roger Federer are both at 21.00.

I think that Novak Djokovic doing all that just for one reason - To win Roland Garros. This is only big tournament which he didn't won and I think that for him it is now or never. He is in great form and this year could be his lucky year for Roland Garros and I truly believe that he can do it.

There were rumors that Novak Djokovic will skip Madrid Open, because, like kruno said, he skipped it last year too because he want to take a little rest and to be "fresh" for Roland Garos, and finally to win it. It will be hard to do that, even this, not so good, Nadal, is still "king of the sand", and there will be big...

You could predict this after Novak skipped last year also Madrid , to take a little rest . He can afford it because he is in great situation on ATP list. Novak is undoubtly the best tennis player in the world and i think no one can even try to take that first place at this moment . Novak is surely thinking about Roland...

I don't know the exact reason in which Nole decided to pull out the Madrid tournament. But we all know how busy is the ATP calendar and a little rest is never a bad thing. I've heard that he had some issues with the Spanish crowd in the past at this tournament and maybe this is on of the reasons for his decision.

This is great news for all fans of Novak Djokovic. It is obvious that he wants to rest and prepare for the Rome and Paris. Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam that he did not win and I think this is his year. Now is the closest to it, because he is in top form and Nadal is far from his best editions. Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player on the world and he can chose which tournament he will play and which not. He is first on ATP Tour and he have more than 5000 pints more than second Roger Federer and he don't need to think about losing first place. So I think that this is smart move to skip this tournament and prepare...
