Fantasy Sports Operator Joins the Internet Association
Fantasy Sports operator FanDuel, has joined the Internet Association, a trade group representing technology companies including Yahoo, Google, Facebook, Twitter and others. Fantasy sports betting is exempt from federal laws unlike regular sports wagers and online gambling but the industry is not willing to chance future changes and wants representation in the political environment. According to a statement from FanDeul CEO Nigel Eccles this week: “As FanDuel continues to grow and redefine how sports fans play fantasy sports on the Internet, it was critical that we joined the Internet Association to participate and engage on important policy issues affecting Internet companies.” “FanDuel's perspective will be a great asset as we continue to work together to advocate for pro-Internet policies that foster economic growth and empower users,” said Internet Association President Michael Beckerman.
