Back 666Bet Customers Still Waiting on Repayments

Deceived customers of 666Bet are still hoping to get their personal funds back after the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) suspended the operator's license on an interim basis in order to review its status. 666Bet claims this is the reason for it not being able to return funds to its customers.

The company's director Paul Bell was arrested last month in relation to a £21 million ($31.2 million) fraud and money-laundering investigation as part of a multi-jurisdiction investigation by the UK HM Revenue & Customs, Isle of Man Constabulary, and Cheshire Constabulary and Guernsey Border Agency.

In an effort to reclaim their money, customers have launched an online petition, but the operator still refuses to comply stating that it needs an approval from the UKGC.

“The Commission made it clear, when it suspended (666Bet owner) Metro Play Limited's licence on 20 March, that it is authorised to settle any outstanding winning bets that it accepted in reliance on its operating licence and return any outstanding balances to customers – and we expect it to do so. This remains the Commission's position.

“The Commission has not specified the method by which Metro Play Limited should pay customers.

“At no point has Metro Play Limited or its third-party providers requested the Commission's approval in order to carry out this task.

“We've made it clear to Metro Play Ltd that there's no regulatory bar preventing them from paying customers.

“If they're experiencing practical difficulties then we have offered to talk to any third-party providers.”

666Bet replayed by posting a statement on their official Facebook page:

“Metro Play Limited would like to clearly reiterate that we were reliably and explicitly informed on several occasions by our potential third-party platform provider that they were waiting for approval from the UKGC in order to get us back on line, dating back to the end of March.

“The UKGC have now informed us that this is not the case. We have therefore asked the company who offered to provide us with the aforementioned platform to clarify their comments and sought further confirmation from the UKGC regarding this situation as they have been aware of our efforts throughout the recent downtime.

“In the meantime we will now explore alternative routes to pay customers, which we will hope to now announce on Monday but would like to make it clear that we are still dependent on third party payment providers in order to fulfill withdrawals securely for all our customers.”
