Skybet Getting Flack for Odds Error
Skybet punters took their complaints that the company wasn't honoring its advertised odds to the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail published communications and online graphics to support claims that Skybet advertised odds of 25/1 for a Paris Saint- Germain win in its Champions League football match against Chelsea last week. Odds of 25-1 for a PSG win in extra time was displayed via Skybet's mobile app; however the company settled the bets at 9-2. The article pointed out the difference that this made. For example, winnings on a £10 wager would have been reduced from £260 to £55 including the return of the original bet. Skybet reportedly admitted the error in odds but its actions to revert to the original odds are supported by its terms and conditions. "The longer odds were offered while Chelsea was leading 2-1 in extra time. But the French side equalised, despite being reduced to ten men, and won the two-legged clash on away goals," point out the Daily Mail. They've also reported that winning punters were notified of the error in odds by email once the match had ended and they would receive the lower rate. At this time it is unknown whether or not any complaints were reported to the UK Gambling Commission or the Advertising Standards Authority.
