Back Primera Liga: Athletic Bilbao vs Real Madrid preview

Real Madrid will be looking to consolidate their position at the top of the Primera Liga table when they travel to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. If Real Madrid win they will build a five-point cushion over rivals Barcelona, who won't be in action until Sunday. Bilbao are a tough nut to crack though, they have lost just one of their last six league matches.

Moreover, Ernesto Valverde's men will play the Copa del Rey final after securing a 2-0 win at Espanyol on Wednesday. Their last league result is a 1-0 win at Eibar, they have conceded just two goals in their last five league matches and are currently 10th in the Primera Liga table.

Real Madrid have won three of their last four matches but were held to a 1-1 home draw last weekend by Villarreal. The Blancos have the best away record in the league so far, with 10 wins out of 13 games and an impressive 39 goals scored. Real Madrid have won 17 of their last 19 matches against Bilbao, with just one win for the Basque side. Earlier this season Real Madrid thrashed Bilbao 5-0 at the Bernabeu.

Probable line-ups:

Bilbao: Iraizoz - Iraola, Laporte, Gurpegi, Balenziaga - Rico, Benat - De Marcos, Susaeta, Muniain - Aduriz

Real Madrid: Casillas - Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Marcelo - Silva, Isco, Kroos - Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale

My prediction: Real Madrid to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Bilbao win - 6/1 Draw - 15/4 Real Madrid win - 4/9
