Back Premier League: Hull City vs Sunderland preview

Hull City and Sunderland meet on Tuesday evening in what could be a crucial match in their struggle for survival in the top flight. Both teams are just a few points clear of the relegation zone and both will have important relegation clashes next weekend as Hull visit Leicester and Sunderland host Aston Villa. The Black Cats are three points clear of the danger area while the Tigers are four points above the drop zone.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet will have Wes Brown available after lodging a successful appeal against the red card that he received in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Manchester United. It was a case of mistaken identity as it was John O'Shea who committed the foul on Radamel Falcao. Last weekend Hull saw their three-game unbeaten run come to an end as they were defeated 1-0 at Stoke City.

New signing Dame N'Doye was rested at the weekend after scoring two goals in as many games, so he should feature on Tuesday alongside Nikica Jelavic in attack. Hull have Robbie Brady, James Chester, Robert Snodgrass, Liam Rosenior and Mohamed Diame sidelined by injuries. Gus Poyet will most likely choose an unchanged starting eleven, despite going five matches without a win. Emmanuele Giaccherini, Ricky Alvarez and Will Buckley remain injured for the Black Cats.

Probable line-ups:

Hull: McGregor - McShane, Bruce, Dawson - Elmohamady, Livermore, Huddlestone, Meyler, Robertson - Jelavic, N'Doye

Sunderland: Pantilimon - Reveillere, Brown, O'Shea, Van Aanholt - Cattermole; Johnson, Larsson, Gomez - Wickham, Defoe

My prediction: Hull to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Hull win - 23/20 Draw - 23/10 Sunderland win - 29/10
