Back Serie A: Roma vs Juventus preview

Roma host defending champions Juventus on Monday in a match that represents their last chance to get back into the title race. Juventus are currently nine points clear at the top of the table, but a win for Roma would cut that lead to just six points with thirteen games remaining. On the other hand, if Juventus manage to beat second-placed Roma then they would have one hand firmly on the title.

Juventus have lost just one league game so far this season but Roma are doing well lately as their last defeat was all the way back in November. Rudi Garcia's men have failed to convert draws into wins though, they have been held to draws in eight of their last eleven top-flight matches. The main problem seems to be in defence as they kept just one clean sheet in the last seven games. Juventus are full of confidence, especially after recording a 2-1 Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Roma had their own continental triumph on Thursday as they defeated Feyenoord 2-1 to advance to the last 16. In October Juventus beat Roma 3-2 in a crazy match with three penalty kicks and two red cards. The Bianconeri have won 77 of their 161 meetings with Roma. Maicon and Victor Ibarbo will be unavailable for the home side while Juventus will have to do without playmaker Andrea Pirlo who suffered a calf injury during the match against Dortmund. Paul Pogba might miss out as well due to a thigh issue.

Probable line-ups:

Roma: De Sanctis - Torosidis, Manolas, Astori, Holebas - Pjanic, Keita, Nainggolan - Gervinho, Totti, Ljajic

Juventus: Buffon - Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra - Sturaro, Marchisio, Vidal - Pereyra - Tevez, Morata

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Roma win - 11/5 Draw - 23/10 Juventus win - 13/10
