Back UEFA Europa League: Fiorentina vs Tottenham preview

Tottenham Hotspur face an uphill battle at Fiorentina in the Europa League on Thursday after being held to a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane last week. The Spurs had taken an early lead thanks to Roberto Soldado but Fiorentina got back on level terms through Jose Basanta. Tottenham have a big appointment at the weekend, the League Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino's men have been going through patchy form lately, with two draws and one loss in their last three matches in all competitions. Last time out they snatched a 2-2 draw at home against Tottenham thanks to a 96-th minute goal from Harry Kane. Fiorentina have been quite impressive in 2015, they are on a 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions. They haven't won any of their last two competitive games though.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Tottenham but Pochettino might choose to rest a few of his key players for the crucial match at Wembley this weekend. Fiorentina will be without goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu and Borja Valero, while Giuseppe Rossi and Federico Bernardeschi remain on the long-term absentees list.

Probable line-ups:

Fiorentina: Neto - Rodriguez, Savic, Pizarro, Mati Fernandez - Joaquin, Basanta, Valero, Pasqual - Gomez, Salah

Tottenham: Lloris - Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies - Bentaleb, Paulinho, Chadli, Eriksen, Townsend - Soldado

My prediction: Fiorentina to win 1-0.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Fiorentina win - 1/1 Draw - 13/5 Tottenham win - 3/1
