Back NordicBet Logo Removed from Finnish Hockey Team Jerseys

Finland's National Police Authority has warned local ice hockey team Jokerit and NordicBet that they could face a Euro 100,000 fine for marketing related activity despite the fact that they are not targeting Finnish punters.

Jokerit claims it has not violated Finnish lottery laws as the marketing activities are taking place outside of the country.

In response to the warning, Jokerit has removed NordicBet's logo from its jersey's and now features “NoLogo” and an additional logo in Cyrillic Alphabet, which Lotteries Manager Jouni Laiho says still represents NordicBet in the National Police Board's opinion.

A press release stated, “Jokerit would like to emphasize that all marketing measures are implemented outside Finland when Jokerit plays guest matches. The Jokerit and NordicBet cooperation is not intended to promote NordicBet in Finland. Jokerit playing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) appeals to a broad international audience, particularly in countries where hockey is a strong proposition.”
