Back Capital One Cup: Chelsea vs Liverpool preview

Chelsea and Liverpool have the final in mind as they meet at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final. The first leg ended 1-1 last week with Raheem Sterling bagging the equalizer after Eden Hazard had converted a penalty kick in the first half. The away goal gives Chelsea a slight advantage but the rule in the Capital One Cup is that away goals count only if the game is goalless after extra time and not after 90 minutes.

Since that match the Blues crashed out of the FA Cup last weekend after a shameful 4-2 defeat at home at the hands of Bradford City. Liverpool on the other hand are full of confidence as they are coming on a 10-game unbeaten run in all competitions. The first leg was completely dominated by the Reds, who were unable to capitalize on their superiority as Chelsea scored on their only shot on target. However, Chelsea did beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in the Premier League earlier this season.

Jose Mourinho will most likely field his strongest eleven, with Thibaut Courtois, John Terry, Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa all in line to be in the starting eleven after being rested against Bradford. The visitors will be without Brad Jones and Joe Allen but Daniel Sturridge might make his long-awaited return, albeit from the substitutes bench.

Probable line-ups:

Chelsea: Courtois - Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Luis - Matic, Mikel - Willian, Fabregas, Hazard - Costa

Liverpool: Mignolet - Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno - Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard - Markovic, Coutinho, Sterling

My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Chelsea win - 8/13 Draw - 16/5 Liverpool win - 5/1
