Back Serie A: Palermo vs Roma preview

Roma have a must-win encounter at Palermo on Saturday if they want to keep the pace with league leaders Juventus. The reigning champions will play on Sunday night against Verona, so Roma can put some pressure on them by winning on Saturday. Roma are currently second in the Serie A table, three points behind Juventus.

Last weekend Roma legendary captain Francesco Totti scored twice to secure a 2-2 draw against local rivals Lazio in the Rome derby. Kevin Strootman and Adem Ljajic were half-time substitutes in the derby and they are expected to make the starting eleven this weekend.

Palermo lost 4-3 to Fiorentina last weekend and the result ended their nine-match unbeaten run. They are currently 10th in the Serie A table but a few consecutive defeats could see them fall dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Probable line-ups:

Palermo: Sorrentino - Munoz, Gonzalez, Feddal, Morganella - Rigoni, Quaison, Barreto, Lazaar - Vazquez, Dybala

Roma: De Sanctis - Maicon, Manolas, Astori, Holebas - Pjanic, De Rossi, Strootman - Ljajic, Totti, Destro

My prediction: Roma to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Palermo win - 13/5 Draw - 23/10 Roma win - 23/20
