Back Louisiana Bookie Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison

Federal Judge Helen G. Berrigan of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana slammed down the gavel sentencing 79-year-old Frank J. Frabbiele to eight months in prison for his involvement in the operation of an illegal sports gambling business.

Frabbiele paid an undisclosed Costa Rican website to handle wagers from customers going back to 2008 according to Louisiana's State Attorney General.

He was caught after a family member talked about the illegal operation with an FBI agent in July 2014 resulting in Frabbiele's guilty plea on charges of money laundering and violations to the Federal Wire Act.

Frabbiele also had a previous run in with the law when he and his wife were charged with operating yet another illegal gambling business in 1991.

Along with the prison sentence, Frabbiele must also turn over $200,000 to the government.
