Cycling: Bradley Wiggins extends Team Sky contract
Sir Bradley Wiggins has signed a contract extension with Team Sky but not for the whole season, the deal will see him race for the team until the end of April. The aim is for Wiggins to compete in April's classic Paris-Roubaix race before switching entirely to track cycling en route to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "Paris-Roubaix is a special race for me and I'm determined to give it another go in Team Sky colours," said Wiggins. "After that I can focus fully on preparing for the Rio Olympics ." Wiggins joined Team Sky in 2010 and after just two years he became the first ever British rider to win the Tour de France. In the same year he won the Olympic road race title in London. In 2014 he won his first road world title by claiming the time trial race at the World Championships in Ponferrada. With that result Wiggins has Olympic and world titles on both road and track. He has never managed to win a one-day classic though, such as Paris-Roubaix. "It's one of the toughest races in the calendar and my aim is to improve on my ninth-place finish last year," said Wiggins. Sky team-mate Chris Froome is the favourite to win the 2015 Tour de France, he is 9/4 at Bet365 to claim victory in Paris next summer.
