EA Arena, a real-money gambling site for virtual football fans will stop its real-money betting aspect due to low player interest. The closure has been announced earlier this year after acknowledging that less than 0.2 percent of Arena players were participating in Arena events on a regular basis, so they decided to focus their efforts on developing new, engaging services for their players. This was due to happen as the popularity of the genre was increasing all around the world and the competition was becoming fierce.
Virtual football games have improved in appearance following advances in software and graphics technology. There's a wide range of stadium, team, strip and star choices. The idea is to find players similar to your skill level compete with real-money bets and hopefully win cash or prizes. And because the genre is based on skill gaming there are few legal complications as seen in the video bellow:

I think that EA sports are slowly loosing battle against other big computer company, I think that this is just one of their fail lately... NBA 2K is better than their simulation of NBA, Pro evolution soccer have advantage and I think that just they are not good enough to survive this expansion of computer games.

wow I am big fan of EA sports, I play fifa, NHL, Fifa manager but I never heard about it. So I think that maybe it wasn't good marketing and if more people know about it I think that they wouldn't close this. I will see what are they do in future and if they make something like this I will be glad to participate.
