Back Snooker UK Championship: Ding Junhui stunned by James Cahill

China's Ding Junhui suffered a very surprising 6-5 defeat against world number 100 James Cahill in the third round of the UK Championship in York. Ding was 5-1 down, fought back to make it 5-5 but his opponent produced a solid last frame to win the match.

"When I missed the chance to win 6-1, he started coming back at me, and it's the worst feeling in the world," Cahill told World Snooker after the match against Ding. "In the last frame I expected him to win in one visit, but after he missed I played a solid frame. My family went through the emotions as much as I did." Cahill is the nephew of former world champion Stephen Hendry.

Meanwhile, Ronnie O'Sullivan eased past Ben Woollaston with an easy 6-2 victory to reach the last 16. Defending champion Neil Robertson also had a comfortable victory, 6-2 against Peter Ebdon. The Australian delivered breaks of 108, 84, 74 and 78, showing he is in great form.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is the favourite to win this year's UK Championship, he is 15/8 at Bet365 to retain the title while Neil Robertson is 9/2 and Judd Trump is 7/2.
