Back UEFA Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Roma preview

Roma will be looking for some kind of revenge or at least some comfort when they travel to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday. The Italian vice-champions were thrashed 7-1 in front of their own fans at the Stadio Olimpico two weeks ago, as Bayern took full control of Group E.

Roma are still in second place in the group standings though as Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw at CSKA Moscow. Bayern can make sure they win the group if they beat Roma again for the fourth consecutive Champions League win this season.

The German champions are currently in brilliant form, they are still unbeaten since the start of the season and they are top of the Bundesliga table after 10 matches. Last weekend they have defeated domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund 2-1, fighting back from one goal down thanks to Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski. Holger Badstuber, Javi Martinez, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thiago Alcantara are all injured for Bayern, while Maicon, Marco Borriello and Kevin Strootman are all in doubt for Roma.

Probable starting line-ups:

Bayern: Neuer - Benatia, Alaba, Boateng, Bernat - Lahm, Alonso, Muller, Gotze, Robben - Lewandowski

Roma: De Sanctis - Torosidis, Manolas, Yanga-Mbiwa, Cole - Pjanic, De Rossi, Nainggolan, Iturbe - Totti, Gervinho

My prediction: Bayern to win 3-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Bayern win - 1/4 Draw - 11/2 Roma win - 13/1
