Back Premier League: QPR chairman to stick with Harry Redknapp

Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes has revealed he has no plans of sacking manager Harry Redknapp and also added he hopes the current boss will remain at the club even after he steps down from the managerial seat. Redknapp pushed QPR back into the Premier League last season, but then the team made a poor start to the campaign in the top flight. There are some signs of recovery though as QPR moved off the bottom of the Premier League table after defeating Aston Villa 2-0 on Monday.

Even though they remain two points away from safety, Fernades says he is happy with his manager. He also gave West Ham's Sam Allardyce as an example, as he was under heavy fire at some point but now managed to lead his team to fourth place in the Premier League table. “I believe stability is the best way,” Fernandes told Sky Sports (http://www.skysports.com). “If you look at the clubs who have succeeded, they have had consistency in managers. This time last season, everyone wanted Sam Allardyce's head. Now, I think they will put a statue of him at the Olympic Park. The manager plays a part but it is up to the players as well.”

The chairman also revealed that he would be happy to have Redknapp as manager next season. "If Harry decides management is not for him next year, or the year after, or whenever, then he still has a role at this club. It's up to Harry whether he wants to continue as well,” he said. “I hope, if he decides management is not for him next year, or the year after, or whenever, then he still has a role. I don't know, we haven't discussed this. Harry is a man who was tipped to be England manager, and he got us promoted. You look at how many clubs have gone down and not come straight back up. I think QPR are one of the few clubs to have come up. Harry is my man. It is not in vogue to say that, but I stand by my manager.”

QPR are currently 8/11 at Bet365 to get relegated from the Premier League this season.
