Back UEFA Champions League: Borussia Dortmund vs Arsenal preview

Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal have been drawn into the same Champions League group for the third time in four seasons and now they will even start their group campaign against each other on Tuesday evening. Last season Dortmund won 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium but the Gunners got revenge by winning 1-0 in Germany. The two teams finished level on points with Napoli, with Dortmund taking top spot and Arsenal finishing second.

Then Dortmund were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Real Madrid while Arsenal were defeated by Bayern Munich in the round of 16. Dortmund start their tenth group stage campaign while Arsenal have an impressive record of 17 consecutive seasons in this competition. The Gunners had to overcome Besiktas in the playoff in order to advance to the group stage with a 1-0 aggregate win.

Arsenal have won just one of their four league games so far this season while Dortmund had two wins and a defeat so far in the Bundesliga. The home side will be without Jakub Blaszczykowski, Ilkay Gundogan, Oliver Kirch, Nuri Sahin and Marco Reus, all injured. Mats Hummels might also miss out while Shinji Kagawa is expected to be in the starting eleven after moving from Manchester United to Dortmund.

Arsenal will hyave to do without Mathieu Debuchy, who is both injured and suspended, while Theo Walcott remains unavailable. Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey might also miss out due to ankle injuries.

Probable starting line-ups:

Dortmund: Weidenfeller - Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Durm - Kehl, Groskreutz - Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Ramos - Immobile

Arsenal: Szczesny - Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal - Wilshere, Arteta, Ramsey - Sanchez, Welbeck, Cazorla

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Dortmund win - 11/10 Draw - 11/4 Arsenal win - 13/5
