Back Primera Liga: Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid preview

One of the most important matches in European football will take place on Saturday evening when bitter rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid meet at the Santiago Bernabeu. Atletico won the Primera Liga last season, an achievement that was quite surprising even for their fans, while Real Madrid got their revenge by beating their arch rivals in the Champions League final.

The two teams have already met two times this season, with Atletico winning the Spanish Super Cup 2-1 on aggregate. The importance of the Primera Liga match is far greater though. Cristiano Ronaldo should be ready to make his return for Real after having to deal with a few minor injury problems. Dani Carvajal is still in doubt due to a hamstring problem so Alvaro Arbeloa will most likely take his place in defence.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone will continue to serve his touchline ban on Saturday, and he could be without Cristian Rodriguez, who picked up a calf injury while on international duty with Uruguay.

Probable starting line-ups:

Real Madrid: Casillas - Arbeloa, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo - Kroos, Modric, Rodriguez, Bale, Ronaldo - Benzema

Atletico Madrid: Moya - Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Siqueira - Suarez, Gabi, Koke, Griezmann - Mandzukic, Garcia

My prediction: Real Madrid to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the big derby at Bet365:

Real Madrid win - 4/6 Draw - 11/4 Atletico Madrid win - 4/1
