Premier League: Chelsea sign QPR striker Loic Remy
Chelsea have announced the signing of Queens Park Rangers forward Loic Remy on a four-year contract. The striker had a £10.5m release clause in his QPR contract and Chelsea met that clause with their offer. "I feel very happy and very proud," said Remy, aged 27. "When I heard Chelsea wanted to sign me I said 'let's go'." Arsenal have also been interested in the French striker but Chelsea made the decisive move after letting Fernando Torres move to AC Milan on loan. "They are one of the best clubs in the world," Remy added. "I remember the amazing atmosphere at Stamford Bridge when I played there for Marseille and I can't wait to play for the first time in front of my new fans." Remy has also been close to a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer summer, the Reds also met his release clause but the transfer fell through after reports of a failed medical. Remy played for Newcastle in the Premier League last season and scored 14 goals in 26 top-flight appearances.
