OPAP Seeks Horse Racing License
Greece has a 20-year license to accept horse racing wagers as part of a privatization plan with international lenders. OPAP entered into a partnership with UK fund manager Global Family Partners for the license within days of the Greek privatization agency HRADF's rejection of a deal with Intralot. OPAP's bid with Global Family Partners will be at least Euro 40 million exceeding Intralot's first offer of Euro 5.2 million. The media reports that the deal with be final by the end of September 2014.
